Gay marriage: California parents beware

Just days after opponents of Prop. 8, the measure to protect traditional marriage, put out a barrage of commercials claiming that gay marriage would never be taught in schools regardless of the outcome of the ballot, comes the story of a San Francisco class of first-graders that was bused to their teacher’s lesbian wedding.

Even though parents were asked for their permission (two families opted out), this “teachable moment” was a horrid waste of school time and taxpayer money.

Gay marriage proponents like to say that children can’t be indoctrinated into the gay lifestyle, but the gay movement sure spends a lot of time trying.

Santa Monica Democrat Sheila Kuehl is one legislator who has worked to get pro-gay books into the hands of schoolchildren with several measures in recent years. Other measures that have been pushed through the state Legislature have sought to mandate gay “awareness” training for schoolchildren and discussion of gay marriage in classrooms of young children.

Meanwhile, the biggest institutional contributor to defeat Prop. 8 is the California Teachers Association.

Despite its claims to the contrary, the gay movement has children in its cross hairs.

The field trip to a lesbian wedding is a small preview of what will happen if Prop. 8 does not pass.

  1. Ah, guess what – no taxpayer dollars – this was a private school whose parents organized the event – way more diabolical to make it about public schools

The California Dept of Education has issued a press release indicating that there is no part of the California Education Code which requires local schools or districts to instruct students about any kind of marriage…another slam at the truth

Actually, it was the Creative Arts Charter School, which is in fact funded by taxpayer money, not a private school. The motto on their Web site is “Providing a project-based and arts-integrated public education.”

It’s not the first public school to find excuses to push homosexuality on children. In 2006, a San Diego tax-funded charter school told elementary schoolchildren to march in the San Diego Gay Pride Parade.

And it doesn’t really matter what the Dept. of Education says in a press release when you have legislators like Sheila Kuehl proposing laws that would require textbooks to include positive references to the homosexual, bisexual or transgender orientation of historical figures, regardless of relevance (Senate Bill 1437); or that would require all businesses and schools that accept any state money to promote homosexuality, bisexuality and transsexuality, or face a funding cutoff (SB 1441). Or when you’ve got someone like Loyd Levine, who sponsored a law that would withhold funds to schools that do not establish discrimination policies based on “gender identity” and “sexual orientation”; and that would create new curricula to promote acceptance of all manner of sexual activity to schoolchildren (AB 606). Or Judy Chu, who sponsored a bill giving special funding for “tolerance education” that would bar expression of traditional values, including a belief in traditional marriage (AB 1056). And those were all proposed before the state Supreme Court made up a right to gay “marriage.”

If you’re going to accuse people of lying, you should get your facts straight.

  2. It does not make any difference that the school was a charter school or not. This story is more about a reflection of a part of society leaning towards a normalization of homosexuality.

It certainly IS an example of what’s to come.

  5. There are also good examples of this happening in Massachusetts where children are being taught about gay relationships in elemenary schools without the discretion of parents. Teachers are claiming that because gay marriage is legal they have every right to do so, even without parental consent.
